OUR STORY

Founded in 1978 by Luigi and Giovanna, our company has its roots in the experience gained in the fruit and vegetable trade. From that year onward, the founders chose to dedicate themselves to wine, selecting grapes from various Italian regions and creating a solid winery built on passion, expertise, and tradition.

A key moment in the company’s history came in 1999, when their son Luca and his wife Claudia joined the family business. With their vision and determination, they took a decisive step forward: they purchased a plot of land in Poggio di Sanremo and acquired the historic family vineyard in Ceriana, further strengthening the company’s production roots and reinforcing its winemaking identity.

The future is female in the Calvini family… Luca and Claudia’s daughters, Ilaria and Elena, driven by the same passion that guided previous generations, are pursuing studies in oenology and agriculture with the goal of continuously innovating and improving production. A new generation ready to carry on the family legacy and lead it into the future.

The company is mainly divided into two vineyard plots: the main estate located in Poggio di Sanremo and the historic family vineyard located in Ceriana.

Our small size becomes one of our greatest strengths, allowing us to know every vine “by name” and to understand the specific characteristics of each section of the vineyard.

Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand and using small crates, in order to preserve the grapes as much as possible and perform an initial quality selection directly in the vineyard.

The passion that sets us apart is the foundation of our meticulous work, aimed at producing wines that continuously strive for excellence.

Il Poggio

The soil and climate characteristics of this area are highly favorable for vine cultivation. Thanks to the strong ventilation typical of the hill ridge location, the vines remain well aired, preventing excessive humidity.

The agricultural hydraulic arrangement used is the traditional Ligurian system, with terraces and dry-stone walls. Another advantage of this vineyard lies in its unusually wide terraces, compared to the local average, and its strategic position, which allow for minimal mechanization during the most demanding stages of production.

Since 2023, the Liguria Region has officially recognized the “Vigna” designation, and we have registered the name “Vigna del Poggio” in the regional vineyard register.

MUNTÀ DE MUSCIN

This vineyard is located at approximately 320 meters above sea level, and its higher altitude compared to Poggio allows us to diversify the product thanks to the different ripening periods.

Here as well, the agricultural hydraulic arrangement consists of terraces, although in this case they are narrower and steeper, as is traditionally found in Liguria.
